The .357, in earlier versions of GTA Vice City known as the Colt Python, is a revolver in GTA Vice City and GTA Liberty City Stories. Most enemies can be killed with one shot, regardless where you hit them. The downsides of this weapon are that you cannot shoot while you are walking, and it reloads slowly.
The name Colt Python was originally used in the first version of GTA Vice City, but is changed to .357. Possible due problems with the rights that lay on this name. The new name, .357, isn't just a random name. It refers to his caliber; the powerful .357 Magnum.
